I was born and raised in Wichita Falls, TX as the middle child of five children. I married my husband Jerry out of college when he had just taken the student pastor job at our church. We are about to celebrate 30 years of ministry here at First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, TX. We have four amazing children, three biological and one adopted.

As you get to know me, you'll quickly learn that I am just about as relational a person as you will ever meet… which means I am terrible at details and organization! There are few things I love more than listening and visiting with new and old friends. I'm excited to chat with you soon!

MARY'S FUN FACTS

"I landed in FULL-TIME ministry early on in my life and realized I loved walking beside people in their lives and encouraging them to become the best versions of themself."

Mary's Background + Professional Experience

I graduated from college form the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Psychology and worked on my masters in Marriage and Family Counseling at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach. I landed in full time ministry early on in my life and realized I loved walking beside people in their lives and encouraging them to become the best versions of themself. I kept finding myself listening to women/teens and helping them walk through their problems and finding ways to encourage them in their growth emotionally, physically and spiritually.

I decided to pursue a Certificate in Biblical Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to help me understand more about listening and encouraging others to grow, and I completed that in 2009. I started working at Patsy’s House Child Advocacy Center in 2015 and am still currently employed here as a Forensic Interviewer. Essentially I interview kids (age 3-18) when an outcry of abuse or neglect has been made to Law Enforcement or CPS, and then testify in court on behalf of the interview if the case makes it to court. We work on the criminal side of things. I have conducted around 1,500 interviews and it has definitely changed the way I view trauma and has given me so much insight and perspective into the human mind and spirit. This professional opportunity has enabled me to sit in so much trauma and loss with each child and has given me a new perspective about how care and growth happens.
